Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) technology is an airborne laser profiling system that accurately and quickly measures the position and reflectivity of surface features. Atlanticā€™s LiDAR systems are used in our mission-ready remote sensing aircraft and can generate up to 500,000 pulses of energy per second.

LiDAR technology has grown from a supportive technology to a foundational tool for developing robust remote sensing datasets. Enhancements in LiDAR hardware and post-processing techniques make LiDAR a valuable tool for applications beyond simple topographic data development. LiDAR is frequently used for developing datasets such as impervious surfaces, airfield obstructions, vegetation mapping and utility management.
