Atlantic Announces Third Office in Houston

Atlantic, a mapping company specializing in remote sensing, surveying and consulting services, has opened a third office location just outside of Houston, in Richmond, Texas.

“This is a strategic move for Atlantic in an effort to be physically closer to a big economic center for energy,” said Brian Mayfield, President and COO, Atlantic.  “We believe our location in Houston will become an asset to our company as we continue to grow our services for the energy industry, including oil and gas providers as well as electricity.”

Directing this new office is Randy Burkham, newly appointed as Vice President for Atlantic.  Burkham has spent the last 25 years in the remote sensing and geo-positioning field, including digital aerial imaging, LiDAR and mapping. Burkham was previously with Surdex Corporation as a Vice President and was a core member of their sales and marketing team for 17 years.

Atlantic is headquartered in Huntsville, Ala. with locations in Fayetteville, Tenn. and now Richmond, Texas.  The rapidly growing company has long-term plans to open office locations in additional strategic U.S. cities, as well, in order to better serve current and future clients.

Atlantic Secures Key Environmental Services Designation from GSA

Atlantic, a Huntsville-based company specializing in remote sensing, surveying and consulting services, has been awarded a General Services Administration (GSA) Schedule 899 for Environmental Services.

The Environmental Services Schedule 899 is a resource for industry experts (like Atlantic) that provide support to government agencies.  According to GSA, “services under this Schedule are designed to support agencies in meeting their environmental requirements and streamline the contracting process by providing a faster, more cost efficient means to meet environment requirements.”

“The award of a GSA Schedule is significant for our growing small business,” said Patrick Harris, Chief Business Development Officer of Atlantic and Licensed Professional Geologist.  “It not only allows us to grow our current environmental service offering, but it also allows us a vehicle to continue to grow the government-site staffing and support services of our business.”

The award includes SINs (Special Item Numbers) 1 – Consulting Services and 7 – GIS Services.  Atlantic’s Schedule offers competitive government-site pricing and can be used for its existing and future clients to procure services that do not fall under Part 36 of the FAR.  This designation will significantly expedite and […]

Atlantic Acquires New Equipment

Atlantic has purchased a Leica ALS60 LiDAR System that is equipped with a RCD105 digital camera and waveform digitizer.  The full waveform capabilities of the system allow Atlantic to model the entire wavelength of energy emitted from the LiDAR sensor.  The wavelength information is especially useful for environmental, forestry and utility projects.

“Adding another high-performance LiDAR sensor with an integrated camera system and a waveform digitizer helps Atlantic fulfill our mission of expanding our services to new and emerging markets,” said Brian Mayfield, Executive Vice President, Atlantic.

The addition of a third LiDAR system and a second digital camera, combined with four aircraft, make Atlantic one of the largest remote sensing operations in the southeastern United States.  The company has a plan in place with Hexagon to upgrade the ALS60 to an ALS70-HP later in 2013, which will make Atlantic one of a small number of remote sensing firms with two ALS70-HP’s.
